  • Timothy M. O'Neil

    Founding Partner

    Tim has been involved in real estate acquisition, development, and property management since 1980. He is an investor in both residential and commercial properties throughout the Northeast.

    In addition to Monks O’Neil Development, Tim’s real estate activities include the following:

    Dirigo Management, a property management firm based in Portland, Maine established in 1984. It currently manages one million sf of commercial space, 500 apartment units and 3,700 condominium/home owner association units.

    The Eagle Point Companies, a founding partner in the national affordable housing developer and affiliated management company.

    The Signal Group, a founding partner in the national consulting firm specializing in affordable housing finance.

    Experience

    Tim’s real estate experience includes the development and financing of properties using a variety of government sources, including HUD, Rural Developer/FmHA and state finance agency programs. Among the more than 1,700 units of Section 8 housing he has developed or acquired are some of the first properties “preserved” under the Section 8 Program.

    Tim holds a degree from the University of Maine, is a Board Member and a past President of the Maine Real Estate and Economic Development Association, and a founding Board Member of Community Housing of Maine.

    Bobby is an entrepreneur and real estate developer with expertise in innovative public/private partnerships that serve the community and foster economic growth. Experience developing, leading, and growing 19 businesses in financial services, real estate, technology, and communication sectors. Highly regarded for creating strategic partnerships that promote shared ownership and tether profitability to economic and social development in communities across the country. Proponent of the belief that active ownership is the key to successful ventures.

    In addition to being a Founder Partner of Monks O’Neil Development, Bobby’s real estate and entrepreneur activities include the following:

    Founding Partner & Owner of Headwater Capital Management, specializing in the acquisition and management of industrial and office projects in the eastern U.S. through a private placement real estate fund.

    Founding Partner of Maine Workforce Housing/Szanton Company, specializing in developing mixed-income rental housing in or near downtown districts.

    Founding Partner of Northland Enterprises, formed to develop commercial properties including workforce and low-income housing, market rate apartments, student dormitories, and office buildings.

    Founding Partner & Owner of The Eagle Point Companies, a national affordable housing developer and affiliated management company.

    Investor in Keeper Bay Real Estate, a real estate fund manager specializing in the acquisition and management of NNN-leased veterinary properties.

    Owner & Chairman of Spinnaker Trust, an integrated financial services firm primarily serving high net worth families, individuals, and private foundations with global enhancement strategies.

    Founder, Owner & Director of Maine Fiber Company, a dark-fiber leasing company supporting all telecom carriers in Maine, with a mission to enhance fiber access for carriers providing quality broadband services throughout Maine, including rural regions.

    Bobby holds a degree from the University of Southern Maine and attended Duke University and George Mason University for graduate school.

    Current Civil Leadership:

    ProPublica, Director, an independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism with moral force.

    Maine Center Ventures, Director, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization established by the University of Maine System. MCV supports the development of the Maine Center by serving as a liaison between the academic and employer communities. Currently, am the Chairman leading the effort to relocate, within the Portland area, the business, Muskie, and law schools.
